Perfect fit blinds are taking over the market

We have now been selling and fitting perfect fit blinds since their launch 2 1/2 years ago. In that time they have moved from being a small niche type of product to what it is today. Perfect fit blinds are now in the mainstream of blinds in the UK

We now have customers who know all about perfect fit blinds and simply want to see the choices available. We also hae people looking for cheap perfect fit blinds. But that is never really going to happen because they are very labour intensive to make.

We do now however have the full range of styles and colours and I thought it would be helpful to list out all the options you can have. You would be amazed how many people read this blog (I am) and how many people ring us up on a daily basis looking for information about perfect fit blinds.

The different types of perfect fit blinds

Along with all these blind type you can now have them in 4 frame colours

  • White

  • Brown

  • Silver grey

  • Oak

So you can see there are many options for people to consider. The only version that is still not fully developed is the roller blind option. The tensioning of the spring has to be set very precisely. This means that we cannot offer it for customers to fit themselves. Its a pity because there are so many fabric choices. Give it another year and the issues will have been ironed out.

The other thing we have been getting calls about is the possibility of a copy cat product. We have heard some bad stories about poor quality blinds that do not fit. These have been supplied at dicount prices but do not have the same features and are of substandard quality. You must specify Louvolite perfect fit. We are currently making blinds for a customer in scotland who been duped by a con merchant blind company trying to pass off a different type of blind as the real perfect fit.

Does the frame come with the blind

I was asked today if the frame comes with the blind.

The blinds come in a frame and is fitted as a complete unit. You can see a perfect fit blind being fitted at our main blinds website.
This is true for all the pleated, venetian and roller blind versions of the product.

I am also always asked about the no drilling thing. These blinds really are simple clip in units. There is no drilling - it is a fantastic innovation. When you want to clean the window or the blind you simply unclip it and you have full access to both.

As I wrote the other day, there are now some alternative products arriving to the market but this is the real deal. To quote Ronson " It does what it says on the tin "

Perfect fit frames - beware of cheap imitations

I had a customer come into our showroom today to order their perfect fit blinds. Some blackout nova snow blinds for a hot conservatory.

They had driven halfway round the M25 to look at our products and ensure they were suitable for their windows. We had already "talked" by email and on the phone a few times as the windows they had were slightly different from the normal types.

The reason for the long journey is that the customer had received frame samples from another company saying they did perfect fit blinds but the frame was different and wasn't compatible with the specification of the patented perfect fit blind system.

Now I have known for a while there was an alternative out there as other customers had told me but what it is like I have no idea. I haven't been able to see it as yet. You need to make sure you are ordering the patented perfect fit blind system that we use.

We have produced a range of videos and information pages including this blog to help customers select and choose the correct blinds. If you take the specification details that we have in our information pages and order a substandard system from elsewhere the blinds will not work. You will of course have paid a bit less but at what cost in terms of mis-measured ill-fitting blinds.

I have studiously not made this blog a big sales pitch for my companies http://www.perfect-fit-blinds.com/ and http://www.howardsblinds.co.uk/ up to now because a new product needs a lot of backup information in the first few years. But I want you to know that not all perfect fit blinds are perfect fit blinds. Another national blind company has taken the phrase "perfect fit blinds" to describe their complete range of window blinds thus further confusing the market.

So to summarise.

  • We were there at the beginning of the product launch November 2005.
  • We have personally fitted more perfect fit blinds in the UK than anyone else.
  • We are one of very few 5 star accredited louvolite manufacturers
  • We only sell the fully guaranteed original perfect fit blind system
  • We receive leads internationally for these blinds and the perfect fit roof blind system.
  • We have a real phone number 01344 452485 and showroom. Call us.
I hope you will permit this slightly biased entry just to clear up the point that not all perfect fit blinds are the authentic and patented system.

I will return to just product info and updates from tomorrow.

perfect fit roof blinds with window opening

I often get asked how to overcome the problem of fitting blinds to a conservtory roof where there is an opening section.

We fitted a conservatory roof last week that had a motorised opener and we sorted this out by fitting one blind just below the motor and another just above. The end look was very tidy.

There is a photo on this page - click link below

We can do the same thing if your window openers are manual control with a crank.

Having spent a year fitting perfect fit roof blinds now we have only come accross one where they were not suitable. We simply installed our standard conservatory roof blinds in this case.

We offer a fitting service to most of the south east of the country but cannot go futher at present. We can hardly keep up with the demand in our area.

New video showing perfect fit roof blinds

We have just put a new video on you tube showing how to fit a perfect fit roof blind.
The video also shows how to take one down. This is very useful when you want to clean the conservatory roof or indeed the blind itself.

The one in the video is quite small. You would normally need 2 people to take down this type of perfect fit blind.

At the end of the video there is a short clip showing an unusual shaped roof blind with an obtuse angle. We rarely come across these but it shows how we overcome the problem of not having a right angle to work with.

We are very busy with these perfect fit roof blinds because summer has finally arrived. Hardly anyone is ordering the standard roof blinds as the benefits of perfect fit are so good.

Perfect Fit Blinds for a Juliet Balcony

A few weeks ago we fitted perfect fit blinds to a Juliet Balcony. The video of this is up on the website on the juliet balcony page.

This is by far the best way to fit blinds in this type of location. There is no interference with the operation of the doors and they look perfect (Sorry!).

The frame of this particular Juliet balcony window was actually made of wood. But unusually the beading had a black gasket so we were able to fit the perfect fit venetian blinds the same way as for UVPC window frames.

If you live in the new area of Bracknell called The Parks then this is ideal for you in your new home

Perfect Fit Roller Blinds at the BBSA show 2008

I have just been to the BBSA Trade show in Coventry and seen Perfect Fit Roller Blinds for the first time. I took a quick video while I was there. This also shows the new woodgrain colour for the perfect fit blinds frame. This will be available from May 2008 - Hopefully.
I am busy working on the initial range of fabrics to go with this new style of blind. Watch this space

What Colours Are available for Perfect Fit Blinds

Most customers order fairly neutral colour for their Perfect Fit Blinds to gowith the current trend of Creams, Beiges and Browns. There are however quite a range of fabric styles and colours ranging from pure white to bright ginger and sage green.

The Venetians also come in a wide palette of shades to suit every location. To see the ranges just click on the underlined links.
I am currently developing the roller blind fabrics for this new version of Perfect Fit Blinds.
As I have 1500 to choose from it is difficult to narrow them down to a coherent range.

How far will you go to install perfect fit blinds?

Today 2 of my fitters drove all the way to wales to measure a conservatory for perfect fit roof blinds. A long way to go but as the perfect fit roof system is offered by so few companies and it was a large order it was worth the trip.
And that is what decides whether we can help you with installing perfect fit blinds. We have been fitting in most of the home counties since the launch of perfect fit blinds 2 years ago but the journey has to be worth the trip.
For the standard perfect fit blinds many people simply order online and we deliver ready to fit but the roof system needs professional measuring and fitting - no exceptions.
I also had an enquiry from someone in Ireland wanting perfect fit blinds. I may have to hunt for some referral partners.

Frame Colours Available for Perfect Fit Blinds

Perfect Fit Blind Frames are currently available in three colours. The standard in white. This will cover the vast majority of installations to both windows and conservatories. However for installations where the frames are brown there is a brown option.
This shade of brown is very dark and usually matches very well with the brown window frames.
The third perfect fit blind frame colour is grey and has been spcifically developed for fitting blinds to velux windows. The shade matches the hardware that comes with velux windows.
The videos on the info page of my perfect fit blinds website show the white and brown options. After 2 years I have still not installed one in grey. All my customers with velux windows prefer the white. I'm sure we'll do one soon. I'll post a picture when I do.

Showcase '08 showing Perfect Fit Blinds

This trade show will be showcasing perfect fit blinds on a number of stands. I will be attending both days and will write here about the latest developements. The show is organised by the BBSA (British Blinds and Shutters Association) of which I am a member.

I had a call from a customer on monday who had been concerned about the perfect fit roof system - also called Perfect Fit International. Apparently a number of blind companies are finding it a challenge to work with.

I have found it to be very straightforward and all our perfect fit installations have gone well. The thing about perfect fit blinds for the roof is that there is a lot of detail in the measuring and if you get that wrong you are in trouble. We fitted a conservatory in Windsor today that took more than 2 hours to measure and about an hour to fit.

I do not think anyone can just turn up and do a conservatory roof as a one off without good training and preparation.

Perfect roof blinds are superb and completely superior to any other system I have found.

New Perfect Fit Roller Blinds coming in february

I have had confirmation that the new Perfect Fit Roller Blind system is coming in february.
This a very exciting addition to the range because of the huge range of roller fabrics that can be mounted on the system.
For velux windows the blackout fabrics will be excellent for bedrooms.
I am visiting the BBSA trade show in february and hope to have the full details then. Maybe even a few pictures.
The expanding of the system to include roller blinds really completes the perfect fit blinds range perfectly (sorry!).
We will be offering an initial range of 30 fabrics online immediatly and then expand the range as we find out what our customers want
